Today is the birthday of novelist and children's author Penelope Lively, her novel Moon Tiger (1987) won the Booker Prize. In Moon Tiger, she wrote: "We open our mouths and out flow words whose ancestries we do not even know. We are walking lexicons. In a single sentence of idle chatter we preserve Latin, Anglo-Saxon, Norse: we carry a museum inside our heads, each day we commemorate peoples of whom we have never heard."
I miss listening to Garrison. Will that form of Almanac ever come back? Back in August of 2015 Garrison was doing a show in Eugene Oregon and my wife gave him her homemade jam. I wondered if he tried it or dumped it. Dorland Neale
He posts links to old recorded programs on Facebook all the time.
I gave him a cat DVD when we talked to him at Tanglewood about 19 or 20 years ago. He put it in his jacket pocket but I don't know whether he ever watched it. My relatives thought it was funny. I posted it on Facebook but couldn't include the soundtrack of "Alley Cat" played by Big Tiny Little because of copyright restrictions. It isn't as effective without the music.
