Today is the birthday of poet Rita Dove (1952). She grew up in an educated and literary African American family. She said, “All I ever wanted to do was write the best damn poem that I could write — a poem that was true and honest and the very best I could write artistically and linguistically.”
I've been reading Writer's Almanac for years and wanted to tell you I love it dearly. Thank you.
