Your nice profile on George Lucas overlooked one of his major inspirations for Star Wars: Akiro Kurosawa's classic samurai movie, Hidden Fortress. There are two peasants who accompany the hero and heroine on their quest, and they constantly bicker, cheat and steal. For this American, they become a bit tedious, but I know Japanese find them continually hilarious, probably because their self-centered display of vices is so antithetical to the Japanese ethic. They were the inspiration for R2-D2 and C3-PO. Cheers!

Tomorrow is my birthday. I can almost hear Sir Paul serenade me. I am extremely curious about Taurus thinkers, creative types & other artists. Star Wars was a coming of age story which changed how I viewed my childhood. There was a visceral dimension and a definite kinetic experience expressed. Well, that's the beauty and magic of filmmaking. Thank You George Lucas.
