Dear GK, I am enjoying your almanac. Always to the point, brief, and vivid. Today you made a small mistake. Brodsky was sent not to Siberia but to Russian North - Archangelskaya Oblast. It was not too bad, his friends and girlfriend visited him, people in the village respected him, etc. He wrote there maybe his best verses. Sincerely, Isaac
Did you ever catch Bob Dylan in the coffee shop east of Bridgeman's? Just curious. Tom the Tailor (above Grey's) had some stories -- sorry, none that I heard about B.D.
There is a local patron of where i work as a book slave named Terry Thal. She was the first manager of Bob Dylan. Later on, she married Dave Van Ronk. I admire Bob as do so many of his folk singer cohorts. He was reactionary and a great orator. His lyrics will be around for the next eternity. On a lighter note, Tina Turner passed away today. She was a pioneer and an icon. Keep on Rollin' Proud Mary.
