Thoreau was introspective and inward. It's ok for thoughts to be internal. I was an introvert for most of my studies. I gathered wisdom from the classics. I listened to the senses. I heard the wind whistle like a train's hymn. I remember reading And A River Runs Through It. Later, adapted by Robert Redford to the silver screen. Nature was essential to the New England Poets. It was their muse. I am more familiar with Whitman, Dickinson, Emerson, Wadsworth than Thoreau.
